The commercial and retail centre of Prague is in the historic central area close to the River Vitava. It is an attractive market for international retailers and Prague’s high street in particular is a target for many international/global brands. High street retail in Prague is concentrated in the district of Prague 1, defined by the area bounded by Parízská street and Palladium shopping center to the north and My department store and Wenceslas Square to the south of the city’s central area. There are also a number of strong and well-performing shopping centres. Palladium, Chodov and Novy Smichov are particularly important in the market.

NA PRIKOPE STREET


Na Prikope street is Prague’s premier retail location leading from namesti Republiky towards Wenceslas Square. It is pedestrianised and has a high pedestrian footfall. Wenceslas Square is part of Prague's most important high street and is one of the biggest "squares" in the city. It is connected with Na Prikope street and the historical Old Town. PALLADIUM

Palladium is a shopping mall with a wide retail and leisure offer in the city centre of Prague. It is in a former army barracks building with unique architecture combining historical with modern. The centre has 180 shops, 20 restaurants, bars and cafés over five floors. Palladium is connected to Na Prikope street (the main high street location), has a unique downtown position and became the best performing shopping center in the Czech Republic. The market positioning of this scheme is mid to upper mid level.

NOVY SMICHOV

Novy Smichov is a very successful shopping center located in Prague 5, near the traffic hub Andel (metro line B and tram lines leading to the western part of Prague). Novy Smichov is a shopping center with the highest traffic in Prague. The whole location became one of the most important office districts in Prague. The positioning of this scheme is mid-level.

CHODOV

Chodov is a key shopping centre in Prague with a number of international retailers including Tommy Hilfiger, H&M, Zara, Promod, Replay, Swarovski, Sephora, M.A.C. Cosmetics, Crabtree & Evelyn, Nike and Foot Locker. The location of Chodov is on the edge of town, next to the highway leading to Brno and Bratislava. It is well connected to the city by metro. The shopping center is owned by Unibail-Rodamco and is very attractive for many new brands entering the market. The market position of this scheme is mid to upper mid level. Extension of 35,000 sq m is preparing to be open in fall 2017.

Prague is a cosmopolitan city and its food and beverage offering reflects this. Traditional Czech cuisine is dominant, but Prague also has something to suit all international tastes and budgets. Local Czech cuisine is represented by concepts such as Kolkovna, Potrefena Husa and Svejk restaurants. The segment of gourmet Czech cuisine has a rising tendency. There are 3 restaurants awarded a Michelin Star: Radisson Blu, La Degustation Boheme Bourgeoise and Field. There is an outlook for other restaurants to gain the star.

The dominant locations for the food and beverage sector are the areas with an extreme footfall servicing a domestic and/or tourist target audience. The main tourists routes with a daily footfall up to 100,000 people are Na Prikope Street, Wenceslas Square, Celetna and Karlova Street. The main hot spots servicing locals are areas of Main Train Station, Republiky Square, Narodni trida, Andel area, I.P. Pavlova area. Shopping centre food-courts service shopping customers and a lunch crowd when offices are close by.

There are domestic operators in various fast food, casual food, café, restaurant and pub sectors including Bageterie Boulevard, Cross Café, Fruitisimo, UGO Salads, Kolkovna Pub, Potrefena Husa Pub, Lokal Pub, Pizza Coloseum and others.
